Contemporary additions to provide an annex wing to a pair of cottages now combined into a single dwelling and originally built in the arts and crafts period. The footprint of the annex addition is built out over an existing load bearing structure currently used as a double garage. The form of the annex building is reminiscent of the pitched roof planes of the host property and uses small plain ornamental tiles in vertical and pitched orientation. The design uses these simple clean lines emphasized by secret guttering to eaves conditions to provide an elegant contemporary solution respectful of the arts and crafts materiality of the original cottages.
